What We Do

Rebuilding Together provides extensive rehabilitations through the work of volunteers and donations of sponsors – at no cost to the homeowner. Rehabilitation details vary greatly on the scope of the project, the needs of the homeowner and the structure of the home.  In October 2011, Rebuilding Together Knoxville will undertake a small-scale project where we will make critical repairs to homes of deserving Knoxville residents.

On a national scale, Rebuilding Together serves our target homeowners through the following national programs and events:

Rebuilding Together Knoxville has both national and local initiatives that ensure the achievement of our mission on a daily basis. Rebuilding Together turns every $1 donated into $3 in equivalent market value by leveraging the donations of goods and services from corporate partners and skilled trade associations. Programs specifically tailored to individual community needs bolster the effectiveness on the housing industry and on communities nationwide.

National Rebuilding Day

Our signature event, National Rebuilding Day, occurs on the last Saturday of April. Affiliates from all regions of the country plan projects to celebrate the organization’s mission and bring national attention to the plight of America’s low-income homeowners and the communities in which they live.

  • National Rebuilding Day is the culmination of a year of planning, evaluating, training, organizing and mobilizing hundreds of thousands of community volunteers. Community leaders and national corporate sponsors embrace it as a way to bring immediate impact to America’s communities in a single day.
  • On National Rebuilding Day, volunteers join local affiliate leaders to repair and restore houses and nonprofit facilities, revitalizing entire communities and making a lasting impression on the families who are served. For many volunteers, these positive experiences of helping their neighbors in need bring them back year after year.

The national impact generated on this day is strong, with volunteers completing more than 4,000 home and community center projects every year across the country.

On a local level, Rebuilding Together Knoxville aims to also experience high-impact success.
